Steffi Graf is the New Kerala Ayurveda Brand Ambassador

The Kerala tourism department was given sanction to sign an agreement with Graf to become Ayurveda brand ambassador as part of the department’s ‘Visit Kerala Scheme’, Chandy said.

The tourism department had already held discussions and reached an agreement with the German former World number one tennis player, who had bagged 22 Grand slam single titles.

Kerala’s Ayurveda, an ancient system of health care which is famous for its holistic effect on body and mind, attracts large number of people from the country and abroad every year.

Short Term Visas for Yoga Courses in India

In a first, India will give tourist visa and e-tourist visa to foreigners willing to undergo short term course on Yoga in its bid to popularise the ancient spiritual and ascetic practice globally.

Under the e-tourist visa scheme, an applicant receives an email authorising him or her to travel to India after it is approved and he or she can travel with a print-out of this authorisation.

Since the launch of the scheme, more than around 9 lakh visas have been issued. At present, on an average, 3,500 e-tourist visas are being granted daily to foreign nationals.

Indian traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda to be promoted by WHO

The Ministry of AYUSH has signed an agreement with World Health Organisation for promotion of traditional Indian systems of medicine, including Yoga andAyurveda, globally.

The agreement seeks to achieve cooperation in promoting “quality, safety and effectiveness of service provision in traditional and complementary medicine.

New Ayurveda Institute a la AIIMS

A welcome step towards imparting quality ayurveda education:

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has laid the foundation stone of Chaudhary Brahm Perkash Delhi Rajkiya Charak Ayurvedic Sansthaan at Khera Dabar near Najafgarh . The new institute would be developed on the lines of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences.

The objective behind setting up the institute is to promote use of Ayurveda as a good alternative to modern medicine, develop use of modern techniques for the teaching of Ayurveda, promote research and development of Ayurveda, evolve pharmaceutical standards and bring Ayurvedic formulation to internationally accepted standards.[New Ayurvedic Institute in lines with AIIMS]
